“No three words embody more hope and eternal consequence for all humankind than those uttered by a heavenly angel on Easter morning at the Garden Tomb: “He is risen.” Elder Gary E Stevenson
The “He is Risen” event will take you to back to Jerusalem so you can experience Holy Week starting with Palm Sunday, going to Passover in Jerusalem, to the last supper, to the Garden of Gethsemane, the Crucifixion, and His Resurrection.
"No hay tres palabras que encarguen más esperanza y consecuencias eternas para toda la humanidad que las pronunciadas por un ángel celestial en la mañana de Pascua en la Tumba del Jardín: 'Él ha resucitado'. Élder Gary E. Stevenson

I was truly moved and inspired this past week while attending a community / church project, to take a tour of a transformed chapel into the holy city of Jerusalem ! Indeed this group of passionate church members on the west side of El Paso transformed their church into a live, breathing tour of ancient Jerusalem during Holy Week.
This wasn’t just a set of painted backdrops and plastic props—it was a full-on, immersive journey through the Holy Land, crafted entirely by volunteers who poured their hearts and souls into every stone, olive tree, and winding alleyway with full complement of real matzah for Passover!
From the very moment you stepped inside, you could feel “it”.
The “it” could be different for everybody. Kids, teens, adults, and elders—thirty of us in all, from every walk of life—were swept into a world that felt both ancient and immediate. The gym vanished, replaced by the sights and sounds of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. The attention to detail was mind-blowing: a tomb built below floor level, olive branches, and winding paths that made you forget you were anywhere near a church.
But the real magic came from the tour guides. They didn’t just recite facts—they brought the story to life with a depth of knowledge and empathy that was both scholarly and deeply personal. As we were led through Gethsemane, where I feel the tour hits its emotional peak, their words about Jesus’ spiritual and emotional agony—pain deeper than even the physical torment of crucifixion—hit home. I can not attempt to put it into words.
It was raw, real, and profoundly moving. Their insights made me feel the gravity of that night.
A close second was the tomb experience, where it actually descended below the floor, making the resurrection feel astonishingly real. For a moment, we were there—on the first Easter morning, witnessing hope reborn.
What made this experience so inspiring wasn’t just the realism or the scholarship. It was the sense of unity that radiated from every volunteer and participant. People of all ages and backgrounds came together, proving that the story of Jerusalem and Easter speaks to something universal.
This isn’t just a church event—it is a gift to the whole city. If you’re anywhere near the west side of El Paso, you owe it to yourself to step into this transformed church and let yourself be inspired. . . The volunteers brought their A-game, and the result is a transforming event, an Easter gift for your soul, that I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy.
